Financial services sector
The financial services sector has undergone unprecedented change over the past decade. Ireland’s banks and other financial institutions have faced state aid and ownership, major disputes and investigations, an increased regulatory environment, balance sheet issues, capital raising exercises and the divestment of non-core businesses and loan portfolios.
At the centre of this turmoil, financial services clients have been operating in an economy with a high percentage of non-performing property loans. This has required the development of a number of new financial instruments and consumer engagement processes to improve or gain back value from residential and commercial property loan books in particular.
