Beauchamps partner and outgoing president of INSOL Europe, Barry Cahir, opened the 42nd Annual Congress in Amsterdam from 12-15 October. A record-breaking turnout of 470 delegates from 37 countries attended the congress, making it a sellout event. Moreover, INSOL Europe saw a record number of memberships at 1364, the highest number of young members joining, as well as the growth of sponsors.
This year's congress focused on 'navigating insolvency with trust and integrity', offering attendees an informative technical programme at the weekend. The packed schedule included some of the most well-known and informed experts in the industry. An extraordinary level of expertise and information was shared, along with a featured keynote speech by Bob Wessels about Rembrandt's bankruptcy. Building on the networking opportunities, a balance of socialising was brought forward with their cyber game session and a gala dinner, which was topped off the next morning with a 5K run.
Barry's contributions and hard work as president over the year did not go unnoticed. He set out an ambitious programme, from delivering several new cooperation agreements with national associations, gaining INSOL recognition at UNICITRAL to expanding its membership base while securing the greatest sponsor's support ever. This is a testament to how he continues to make a remarkable impression in the world of insolvency. Following the conference's end, Barry handed over to Giorgio Corno as the new president of INSOL Europe, and we are proud of his many achievements in the last 12 months.
