About Stuart

Stuart is a partner in our award winning Energy & Natural Resources team. He joined Beauchamps in September 2020 from Bord na Móna plc where he spent the previous five years providing legal support across the company’s diverse business operations including, thermal generation, wind farm development and solar PV. 

Stuart commenced legal practice in 2010 having worked for over 15 years as a construction professional on a wide range of infrastructure and commercial property projects and consequently has an acute awareness and understanding of client's needs and requirements. This was something he leveraged and developed during his time as a senior in-house lawyer in Bord na Móna and continues to leverage in delivering practical, targeted advice to our clients. 

His specialities include energy law, planning and environmental law, construction law and contract negotiations. He advises energy developers, renewable energy developers, property developers, local authorities and semi-state companies.

  • Codling Wind Park Limited on the consenting, environmental assessment and construction of their 2.1GW offshore renewable wind farm project in the Irish Sea
  • Simply Blue Energy Kinsale Limited in relation to the consenting and environmental assessment of their 1.3GW Emerald offshore (floating) wind farm project in the Celtic Sea 
  • ABO Wind Ireland Limited on the finance and construction of Phase 2 of the Clogheravaddy Wind Farm
  • Equinor in relation to five offshore wind projects off the coast of Ireland in early stage development in collaboration with ESB
  • Wind Energy Ireland in the review and interpretation of the Maritime Area Planning Bill, the proposed new marine planning consent system for Ireland; and its implications for future offshore renewable energy development 
  • ABO Wind in relation to the judicial review of the decision of an Bord Pleanála to grant planning permission for their proposed Ballymanus Wind Farm
  • Udarás na Gaeltachta in relation to their planning application  and environmental consenting for the Páirc na Mara project in west Galway, Ireland’s first dedicated Marine Innovation Park containing a cluster of marine related companies and researchers working in the marine and aquaculture sectors
  • Donegal County Council on all planning and environmental law issues associated a proposed cross-border amenity facility, the Riverine Project
