Beauchamps’ & CGAI event with Charities Regulatory Authority provides practical guidance to charities sector on governance best practice and restoring public trust
On 12 October 2017, Beauchamps and the Corporate Governance Association of Ireland (CGAI) held a governance event for the charities and not for profit sector with special guest John Farrlley, CEO of the Charities Regulatory Authority, at the Beauchamps offices on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. The event, which was moderated by James Kavanagh, Chair of the CGAI, provided a forum for clients, CGAI members and participants in the sector to engage on the governance challenges currently facing charities and not for profit organisations in Ireland. The purpose of the event was to spark some fresh thinking about governance best practice and provide practical guidance to help organisations develop strategies for dealing with reputational and public trust issues. The event also provided an opportunity to hear about the Charities Regulatory Authority’s new Fundraising Guidelines and other work being done to promote better governance.
The event was attended by over 60 representatives from the sector whose organisations focused on a wide range of issues including health, social housing, youth development and support, education, and suicide and bereavement.
